Focus Group for Student Magazine

Lexy Norman
Lexy agreed that the layout of the magazine was incredibly creative, however she thinks the design lacks images. She suggested that I add "stickers" across the cover, as if the cover itself had layers of stickers showing the different subjects inside (similar to a cork board). My title name and text is fine, but she thinks it may be interesting to change the style of the front cover. She believes that the sub-topics are also very interesting, and that another idea would be to have a fun interview with a teacher from the school.

Anna Bradford
Anna likes the layout of the magazine cover, however the "Win", "Talk" and "What Next" need to be in different sized fonts to make it stand out from each other. She also believes it would be better to use a different font for the title to something more creative. She likes the title of the magazine and believes that content-wise; it is perfect.

Paddi Horncastle
Paddi thinks it would be better to have more images and perhaps spread out the text of the different articles. She likes the font of "Reach Out" however the font of the subtitles is bland, and perhaps it would be more interesting to use different fonts for the different articles. She thinks the flat plan should show the colour scheme of the magazine.

Concept Design of My Student Magazine

Student Magazine Photoshoot

Photos
Prospectus Photo
Here is an example of a photo that would be used, it shows a student privately studying in a peaceful environment. It makes the school seem like a perfect place to study for a-level. However, the image would be more "friendly" if the person in the photograph was facing towards the camera; giving eye-contact towards the reader.

Student Magazine Photos
This is a perfect example for a student magazine, it shows a student taking part in a extra-curricular activities whilst studying (shown by the folder in her hand).  The colours of the photo create a warm comfortable effect that would make school life more appealing.

A Photo that won't be used in either a magazine or prospectus:
In this image, the flash was blocked and only half the photo was lit up. This resulted in an unclear and unprofessional image. The background scenery is also very dark and forbidding.
